My interest in photography began in childhood, when my father used to take many family photos with his 1950's Agfa and Exacta cameras. Although I always enjoyed taking the occasional picture, I discovered the magic of photography much later in life. In 1997, I borrowed my dad's Exacta camera and, after consulting with the folks at the local camera store, photographed Comet Hale Bopp from the shores of Washoe Lake on a clear spring night. Capturing fairly decent images of this once-in-a-lifetime event was a thrilling experience. I was hooked. Since then I've been rediscovering the world around me through the lens of a camera. My photographic journeys have not taken me far from home, yet. But then, living at the edge of the Great Basin and at the feet of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, photographing the world around me has been more than enough. |
